  • Introduction: Due to the prevalence of intestinal parasites in Iran and very little information about them and the many effects they have on the body, it is necessary to increase our information about them. In this regard, in this study, the frequency of intestinal parasites among those referred to Imam Reza Hospital in 1400 was discussed
  • Methods: 4148 samples of hospitalized and outpatient patients of Imam Reza Hospital in birjand were examined by stool exam by direct method and logol staining for intestinal parasites. The samples were examined by parasitological method including direct method and after collecting data with spps software version 20 were analyzed.
  • Results: In general, based on the results, there is no significant difference between Logosh and direct slides in the results, so that out of 4148 patients referred in the direct method, 449 were positive, of which 227 were men and 222 were women, and in the Logool method. 460 people tested positive, of which 232 were men and 228 were women, indicating that Logol's diagnostic method is more sensitive in diagnosis. The results show that the diagnosis of positive fecal test in men and women did not show a significant difference (P> 0.05). However, in the study of both logul and direct slide methods, the frequency of Klei parasite (direct slide method: 55.9%; logul method: 56%) and then blastocystis (direct slide method: 21.3%; logul method: 21%) in Both sexes were higher (P <0.05). Also, the highest positive fecal test was in the age range of 30 to 40 (direct slide method: 28.2%-Logol method: 27.6%). And in winter months (direct slide method: 38%-Logol method: 38% ).
  • Conclusion: Given the importance of infectious diseases, especially parasitic infections around the world, including our country, Iran. Correct and accurate diagnosis of these infections is a great step towards treatment, prevention and control of these infections, and special assistance to us for more effective treatment of parasitic diseases.
